Banish Bad Breath with Young Living Peppermint and Thieves Essential Oils

Thieves & PeppermintI use Thieves and Peppermint oils for a lot of things, but today I wanted to talk about what they can do for your breath. We eat a lot of garlic at my house, and I’m sure most of you know what that can do to your breath. I’ve tried all number of different mouthwashes, toothpastes, and breath fresheners (my husband is convinced that a bite of dark chocolate does wonders), but nothing seems to do the trick quite like Peppermint or Thieves oils.

Here’s a quick history on Thieves oil:

“Young Living’s Thieves essential oil blend was created based on the historical account of four thieves in France who protected themselves from the Black Plague with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing victims of the killer disease. When captured, they were offered a lighter sentence in exchange for their secret recipe. Young Living’s proprietary Thieves oil blend includes clove, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and Eucalyptus radiata and has been specially blended to offer the same kind of defense.”

Quite simply all you have to do it take 1-3 drops of one or a combination of the oils on your tongue, hold it in your mouth until you get enough saliva build-up to swish it around in your mouth for 30 seconds or so, then swallow. Viola, bad breath be banished! Plus by swallowing it you get more of the immune system enhancing effects that Thieves oil is so well known for. Peppermint oil also has some immune boosting effects and is helpful for indigestion.

If you prefer a real mouthwash, Young Living does make a Thieves Fresh Essence Mouthwash that is definitely the best mouthwash I’ve ever used.
